Midterm Time AdviceOctober 10, 2007
Hi everyone! It is hard to believe, but we are 1/3 finished with this semester, which means that midterm season is here. I hope you are all handling the stress well. This week I wanted to focus on the Student Learning Center (SLC) and tell you what services are available to you as students. The Student Learning Center (SLC) on campus is a great place to get some help in subjects that you find difficult. They offer adjunct courses, study groups, and exam reviews for a variety of subjects, especially math and science. Adjunct courses (1-2 units, P/NP basis) are linked to lower division courses, i.e. Stats 2, and they’re only open to students that are actually enrolled in the corresponding courses. Adjunct instructors review lecture material and help students develop test-taking and study strategies. Appointment, drop-in, and individual tutoring are all available to students. Appointment tutoring is specifically for writing. Individual tutoring allows students to meet with tutors one-on-one to get additional help by discussing course material. Additional SLC services include: study strategies classes, study groups, and exam reviews/mock exams. Check out slc.berkeley.edu for in-depth information on the great resources they have to offer.
